Disrupt Demand

What does Disrupt Demand mean?

Exploitation exists in a cycle of supply and demand that must be disrupted. This is why we must fight sex trafficking with our unique holistic approach. We believe that, in order to end sex trafficking for good, we need to first end the demand for sex trafficking.

One study shows that 63% of people who are sex trafficked were advertised online.

The truth is that if we were to snap our fingers and miraculously remove every exploited or trafficked person from their situation and into safety, they would be replaced within a matter of weeks. This is because there will always be a demand for commercial sex if we don’t change the hearts of the buyers that are out there right now. If this sounds impossible, remember this: Demand Disruption was founded by a reformed sex buyer, and in the years since this organization has changed the hearts of many.
"Pornography is sex trafficking's most effective commercial. It promotes a 'product' which increases demand for illicit commercial sex, that demand requires a supply, and sadly supply is often fulfilled via human trafficking."

Porn &

L.E.I.P.

Initiative

The Law Enforcement Intervention Partnership (L.E.I.P.) is one of Demand Disruption’s most unique programs. Through this partnership, Demand Disruption is on-site during law enforcement operations that are designed to arrest buyers after soliciting prostitution. Demand Disruption is there to begin a conversation that may lead these men to seeking help and change so that they never attempt to buy another person again.

S.T.A.R.

Program

The Sex-Buyer Transformation and Restoration (S.T.A.R.) program is designed specifically for arrested sex-buyers.

This class addresses the solicitation activity by:
  • outlining prostitution’s connection to trafficking
  • defining how a hyper-sexualized culture affects us
  • exploring the factors that shape our sexual templates
  • introducing a method to achieving restoration
"Just about every man of the 103 we arrested in this buyer focused operation showed up to buy sex because they saw our ads on porn and escort sites."
Harris County Sheriff's Office Sergeant
